Lab Build: Flooring - 14/04/17

The guttering and fascias spanning the perimeter of the builder are complete and I have to say, they make the whole thing look extremely professional and emphasize that construction is coming to a close. Over the past 2 days, the builders have been digging out the floor ready for the concrete. Luckily they did most of the hard working in moving the soil into the skip, however there is still a large pile left that I feel I might have to move.

Today they filled in the floor with a layer of aggregate and sand before laying down a water proof layer of plastic sheeting. They then put down 12cm thick sheets of polystyrene. Tomorrow, the concrete truck and pipe will be back and will cover all of the above with a 12cm thick layer creating a strong insulated surface ready for my heavy machinery.

I also spent the day talking with the electrician again and decided exactly how we would do power distribution and where all the sockets will be located as well as lightning fixtures. On Sunday after the concrete sets, internal wiring will begin so that they are in place ready for the plaster boards to be installed next week. Its all moving ahead very fast, by the end of next week, the builder will be gone and so then its in our hands.

I sincerely hope this isn't another job for us...

The armored cable will feed in through this pipe.
